Rail & Cruise Journeys
The route is the point.
Some journeys are better at ground level: luxury rail across India, Japan's ordinary trains done properly, small-ship coast where the harbour is the front door.
We book cabins and seats by position rather than category, because a window on the right side is worth more than a grade.
The three things guests remember.
Chosen for the view on the long afternoon leg, not for the brochure grade.
Tea from a stall, mist, and a country waking up.
Arriving in the centre of a town instead of a cruise terminal.
Destinations we'd choose for this.

Japan
Ryokan nights, mountain trails and cities read at street level — timed to blossom or maple.

Italy
A masseria for the group, a chef on call, and the coast roads worth the drive.

Rajasthan
Palaces, painted towns and desert silence — the India everyone pictures, planned so you actually feel it.

Sikkim & Darjeeling
Tea-country mornings, Buddhist monasteries and Kangchenjunga views, linked by a deliberately unhurried journey through the eastern Himalayas.

Vietnam
From Hanoi’s street kitchens to the Mekong’s working waterways, Vietnam rewards a measured journey through sharply different regions.

Egypt
Egypt rewards time: Cairo’s layered streets, Luxor’s painted tombs and a slower passage south along the Nile.

Switzerland
Switzerland rewards a measured journey: lakefront mornings, mountain railways and enough time to wait for the clouds to lift.

Peru
From Lima’s Pacific kitchens to the Sacred Valley and Amazon waterways, Peru rewards a journey that leaves room for altitude and distance.

Canada
Canada rewards choosing a region well: Pacific inlets, Rocky Mountain trails and cities with enough character to warrant staying longer.
The months that work.
Luxury rail is romantic and tightly scheduled. If you dislike fixed timings, we'll route you by car instead.
Big ships are not something we book. Small ship or no ship.
“Four nights on the train, then a week in a house. Exactly the right way round.”
What guests ask.
For three or four nights inside a longer trip, often yes. For ten, rarely.
Yes, and it is our favourite shape: move, then stop.
On request, including award-ticket advice for the long legs.
